River Lily

The white lily
is perched on its neck
the river-lily
delicate as chalice,
leans fronting all the current
among the scattered vines
on the plateau.
The greater red lilies
pile on the mountain
but who would surrender for these
who would surrender for these
one shoot of the white sort?
Lily
your hold is narrow
on the edge of the plateau mountain,
but you pass along the light—
peace, a valley broken with its blaze.
